Cheesy Grin

While in Arizona Ollie started doing this really cheesy smile.

Now he does it all the time. Goofy boy!

Oliver just had his 1-year check-up! {He was not doing his cheesy smile there. Nope! Not after 3 shots and getting his blood drawn.}

*Weight - 22 lbs. {50-75%}

*Height - 29 3/4 inches {50-75%}

*Head - 46.5 cm. {50-75%}

All in all, this is one average dude. Except for his cuteness. That is off the charts. :)

Ollie can stand up on his own & walks around everything. He is still extremely cautious and won't take steps without holding onto something.

He can wave. Give kissies. He says "Ma." He can clap. He still only has the two bottom teeth {very behind on those teeth little buddy}. He sleeps 14+ hours at night. He loves having his car seat turned around where he can see me through the rear-view mirror. He eats everything he has been given - he really enjoyed pizza on his birthday & spaghetti is another fave.

Arizona Summer

We had so much fun while we spent a large chunk of our summer in Arizona  We did not intend to stay for almost 6 weeks, but that's what happened.  Jordan had a bunch of traveling he was doing for work & Ollie & I opted to hang out with family vs. go back to Tulsa...alone. 

Upon arrival we got to celebrate Father's Day! That weekend we went shopping with my mom and dad for some Father's Day gifts. Jordan got a new watch that he loves (along with a new wedding ring to match - He reluctantly admitted to leaving the original in Florida on one of his business trips. I guess he was nervous I would react badly. To his happy surprise I reacted with this, "Well, it's a miracle you held on to it for 6 years!" He loses stuff...A LOT!). I was able to take my dad to Ted's for the best hot dogs later that week. He enjoyed the trip since he rarely gets there on his own.

We loved hanging out with family every day!

 We went to an aquarium. 

I thought Ollie would enjoy seeing all the fishies.

Wrong!

 He was scared of them. I had to hold him the whole time...then & only then, did he think they were cool.

Ollie slept so, SO good in AZ. Oh, blessed sleep!

He ate really good too!  

Must have been the busy schedules.

Ollie's toy of choice...shoes. Nasty, filthy, dirty shoes.

 And boy are there lots of shoes to choose from in Arizona.

Ollie didn't understand shoes aren't just for playing with...

My brother & sister-in-law moved while we were there so Beth & I thought we would offer to babysit their five kids while they got stuff done. We ended up not being very helpful. We took all the kids swimming & Quincy slipped on some rough rocks that took layers of his face off. So sad.

Luckily, Grandma is a professional boo boo fixer.

{1 week later it was healed completely and a week after that you couldn't even tell anything ever happened. Thankfully, kids heal fast or his mother may never have forgiven us.}

Ollie got to meet his cousin, Cannon, who lives in Ohio {Boo} who is 3 months younger...Ollie might be older, but Cannon is definitely bigger!

A swarm of bees thought they would set up shop in my parents shed.

There were even more inside the shed, but I didn't risk my lift by getting a picture of them. Poor bees. They wouldn't listen to me when I told them to go pick a nice tree so, alas, they met a sad end.

Jordan came to visit us on the weekends he wasn't somewhere else in the United States. He found this sweet shirt at Target.

And last, but not least, on our final weekend in the Grand Canyon State, we celebrated the little guy's FIRST BIRTHDAY!

I made him a cake themed after The Lorax {inspiration from here}.

Thankfully, I took a picture of it {however, crummy the picture may be} because it didn't take long for the Arizona heat to melt the cotton candy Truffela trees. The inside of the cake looked more or less like this,

but of course I didn't get my own picture.

I wrapped his presents to match.

Ollie didn't care very much about digging into his birthday cupcake. He played with it more than ate it.

Washing Machine or Thunderstorm

We are all three finally back in Tulsa! I have a lot to catch up on while we were in Arizona  but I thought I would share the night we had last night first. There was a completely terrifying storm that rolled through here just before midnight. It felt & sounded like our house was inside a washing machine and Mother Nature was kicking our butts. I made Jordan walk with me through the house to our dining room where we could see {with the light from all the flashing lightning} what it was that made a loud crashing noise just above our heads. When I caught sight of what it was that made the noise I gasped out loud.

 {Disclaimer: The picture makes it appear smaller than it actually is.} I had noticed this limb hanging from the top branches of a tree earlier yesterday. Well, it made it's way down and in to our power lines {which caused our power to go in and out every so often. Adding to my horror}. Not only is it hanging in the power lines, but the bare end of the limb is hanging at exactly eye level to our bedroom window. If the winds had reversed it would have come catapulting into our bedroom. Awesome. Here is the view from our bedroom of what I saw if I looked out the window {only imagine darkness and lightning and 75 mph winds.}

Yep - 75 mph WINDS. I haven't been out and about town yet, but Jordan says the whole place looks trashed.  I did, however, explore our backyard...

and our side yard...

 Our neighbors tree is falling over between our houses. I always hate to see a perfectly good tree meet its end.

I do like the shaded walkway now & the view out my kitchen window now has some greenery in it.  :) Maybe I can talk them into keeping it.

AND how did our 1-year old handle the rinse cycle, you ask?!?

He slept through the ENTIRE night. In fact, he is still asleep. He has not made the switch to Tulsa time & has been sleeping until noon each day. Sigh.

Thanks for the Welcome Home, Mother Nature. I really did not miss you.

A Look Back

I cannot believe how much our boy has grown & how quickly the last year has flown by.  It goes without saying, it has been the BEST year of our lives. Thanks for giving our lives purpose Ollie! We love you to the moon & back!
