The Rains Came Down and the Floods Came Up

A few weeks ago, while all of Arizona was sleeping snug in our beds, records were being made. Mesa got about 4 inches of rain in a matter of hours. It was the rainstorm of the century in these parts. There was tons of flooding, but more fun to be had than anything. At the local retention basin, aka - dog park, it was overflowing.
 The neighborhood behind the basin...

{what it normally looks like}
People were swimming in it {Eww - that's a dog park peeps!} and in other areas close by people were jet skiing. Cray cray!
The retention basins where they were jet skiing were also the ones that got so filled up the basketball hoops and ramadas were completely submerged under water. That's a lot of water for this little ol' desert. These storms have sure made for beautiful skies...
&
infestations of mosquitoes. Which is no bueno.
Another rainstorm like that and we might just have ourselves some waterfront property!
All this rain has me humming a childhood favorite primary song:
The Wise Man & The Foolish Man

The wise man built his house upon the rock,
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.

The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
And the house on the rock stood still.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came tumbling down.

The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
And the house on the sand washed away.
